Битломан Сережа Кузнецов рассказал мне, что в этом пабе в Рединге на заре своей молодости играли Леннон и Маккартни, подрабатывали там, и он это совершенно точно знает. Якобы дядя Маккартни в те времена был владельцем этого заведения. Однако в пабе ни снаружи, ни внутри нет никаких отметок этого события, этот факт никак не используется в коммерческих целях. Вот, что пишут англичане:

"The Fox and Hounds is a bit of a late addition to the list - mostly thanks to the fame of the place as being a venue that John Lennon and Paul McCartney used to play in their pre-Beetles days. Finding out about the pub in it's current non-famous state is hard to say the least. It's also hard to imagine the place as a live music venue as now it really is a proper locals pub and not much else. However, it's a very pleasant locals pub with a friendly enough feel and some nice touches to show the owners look after the place. On our visit the locals were all sat around the bar watching the footy (cable TV). There's a few tables round one side and a pool table in a games area to the right of the front door".

23 April 1960. "John and Paul hitchhiked down to Caversham in Berkshire, to stay with Paul's older cousib, Bett Robbins, who, together with her husbund Mike, ran a pub called The Fox and Hounds".
